How It Got Started
Mathews Market Days was first held in 1975 in preparation for the Bicentennial Celebration to be held in 1976.
Originally held in a vacant lot beside Moughon's Ace Hardware, Mathews Market Days was a 3 day festival showcasing colonial times including their trades and crafts.
Records show that the net profits of the event were donated back into the community which is a tradition that continues today.
